CW3 (Retired) Lewis E. Stone, passed away at home in Sunrise Beach, TX surrounded by family in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was 95 years young.
Lewis Edward Stone was born in Landon, Mississippi on February 22, 1922 (2/22/22) to Harold Langston Stone and Bertha Clara Rhodes.
“Ed” committed his life to serving and defending his country and protecting and providing for his family. He served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam where he received several awards for bravery, actions, and leadership. He retired from the US Army in 1968 after serving in the Coast Guard, then the Army for 27 years total. Always friendly and social, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and enjoyed another career in sales.
Mr. Stone is survived by his daughter Sherry Fern & her husband Art Fern of Sunrise Beach, TX, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Mr. Stone was preceded in death by the love of his life, Marie Stone, his parents, his daughters Donna and Mary, and all of his siblings.
As per his wishes, his body will be cremated. Graveside services with full Military honors will take place at Fort Sam, in San Antonio later in the fall, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Marie, who passed away in 1995.
